Midwest Division I League

The fall season will mark the introduction of a Midwest RFU Division I league. To make the competitive jump at the National level that we need to make, we need to move the playoff into the spring to match the USA Championship matrix, and to put forward the best playing team at the time heading into Nationals. The league will have twelve members split into two six-team leagues. They are as follows:

West Division
a) Minnesota
b) Northern Iowa
c) Wisconsin Milwaukee
d) Wisconsin Stout
e) Illinois
f) Iowa State

East Division
a) Bowling Green
b) Ohio State University
c) Indiana
d) Purdue
e) Michigan
f) Notre Dame

Super League scoring will be used to determine Division placement. That is, four points for a win, two points for a draw, one point for scoring four tries or more in a win, and one point for a loss by 7 or less. No overtimes in League matches, until playoffs.

The top four teams from each division will advance to a quarterfinal (crossing East-West), played the 2nd weekend in November. This eight-team playoff will take the following format:

Game 1: W4 @ E1 Game 2: W3 @ E2 Game 3: E3 @ W2 Game 4: E4 @ W1

The four winners of these matches advance to the Midwest Championships, to be played last weekend in March, allowing for travel plans to Nationals for the 3rd weekend in April. This means the teams playing the best at the time will be advancing toward USA play. It also means teams will have to work harder through the winter to compete. Feedback has been to find a neutral central location for these.
