Sheryl Luna's collection Pity the Drowned Horses won the first Andres Montoya Poetry Prize sponsored by the Institute for Latino Studies at University of Notre Dame. Poems have appeared in Georgia Review, Prairie Schooner, Poetry Northwest, Madison Review and others.

Pity the Drowned Horses was a finalist in the National Poetry Series and the Perugia Intro Award for a first or second book by a woman. She currently teaches at the Metropolitan State College of Denver.
