ABOUT "OOPS. SORRY."

"Oops.Sorry." is from The Jiri Chronicles, an endless fiction included in my fifth book titled, My Fifth Book: The Experiments. Other published works from The Jiri Chronicless are "Czechoslovakian Rhapsody," and "Glauke's Gown" (The Iowa Review, December 2000 and April 2002, respectively) and "Ad Fictions" (forthcoming in http://www.2GQ.org).  The experiments are similar in all works exept the Ad Fictions:  Using randomly selected texts and images, create a fiction with at least ten sections.  Random drawings include:  seven sentences or phrases from magazine ads to be used for section headers; five sentences or paragraphs from magazine articles to be woven into the story's body; three magazine or newspaper illustrations (e.g., charts, maps, graphs) to be included in the story, as is or "doctored"; one magazine photograph from which the story's title must be derived.  Other non-random appropriated text or images may also be used.  The writer is urged to not edit or censor whatever comes into her head during the writing process, including phrases from movies, song lyrics, non sequiturs, random media detritus, and to pay close attention to the synchronicities which inevitably result.  Random selections for "Oops. Sorry" included words and concepts  overheard in conversations, such as possum and Egyptian art, spurring research that eventually found its way into the completed fiction.
