Registration
How do I reserve a spot for my companion or me?
You can reserve a spot by registering on this program web site. See below for online registration information. The main program is mandatory for all South Bend Class of 2010 students and is included in the tuition. Registration and full payment will be required for all other program participants by May 1, 2009, to ensure that you have sufficient time to get visas and make travel arrangements.
Fees
What do these fees cover?
The fees cover all program content as described in the program schedule(s), lodging, transportation, and most meal expenses from your arrival at our hotel in Shanghai to departure for the Beijing airport for return to the USA. Items not covered by the program fee include: International airfare, transportation to the Shanghai hotel, accident/baggage/cancellation insurance, passport fees and visa charges, personal expenses (such as laundry, telephone, fax, room service, and Internet charges, liquor except during special events - and then only within limits), inoculation and medication costs of any kind, medical evacuation insurance, excess baggage charges, etc.
What is included in the June 20-28 2009 Program?
• All hotel accommodations, group transportation, excursions, and other group activities as detailed in the itinerary, beginning with your arrival at the program's Shanghai hotel, the Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World, on Saturday June 20, 2009, through your departure for the Beijing airport for departure on Sunday, June 28, 2009.
• Transportation according to the itinerary
• All meals noted in the itinerary except free nights
• Complete program of special events and activities noted in the itinerary
• Professional and English speaking staff to assist you throughout the trip
• Bottled water at meals and on excursions
• Baggage handling in China
• Gratuities to expedition staff, guides, and drivers
What is not included in the June 20-28, 2009 program?
• International Airfare to China and from China back to the U.S.
• Optional and additional accident/baggage/medical/cancellation insurance
• Passport fees and visa charges
• Personal expenses such as laundry, telephone, fax, room service, and Internet charges
• Liquor except during special events and then only within limits.
• Inoculation and medication costs of any kind
• Medical Evacuation Insurance
• Excess Baggage charges
Why the extra fee for spouses?
The spouse fee covers a second person room differential charged by the hotels, meals, transportation and program/tour fees.
Can charges be applied to my student account?
Charges for the optional component, spouse charges, and airfare cannot be applied to your student account.
Payment Options
Participants can make their deposits and payments by check or credit card. All checks should include the following information:
- Make checks payable to University of Notre Dame
- Include purpose of the check in the memo line
(i.e. “China Immersion Trip Deposit for ________”;
“China Immersion Trip Final Payment for _____________)
- Include your student id number

What about cancellations and refunds?
- No refunds after June 1, 2009
- Refunds prior to that date will be determined by amount the contracted program logistics provider is able to secure
- May 1, 2009 is last day to register and is the last day for full payment.
Leaving as this program is in progress, for any reason whatsoever, will not result in a refund, and no refunds will be made for any unused portions of the program. Any airline tickets issued are subject to the carrier’s refund policy. The University of Notre Dame and Runckel & Associates will not be responsible for any refund for nonrefundable airline tickets. We strongly recommend trip cancellation and travel insurance. Please understand that there will be no exceptions to our cancellation policy.
