Steel Bridge Project Manager 2009-2010

The Steel Bridge Project Consists of:

  • Designing, fabricating, and constructing a 20 foot long steel bridge
    • Performing a structural analysis of various options
    • Choosing a structural system based on efficiency and constructability
    • Appropriate documentation of the chosen design including the creating of shop drawings of individual members
    • Obtaining the required materials
    • Fabrication of individual members based on shop drawings
  • Competing at ASCE Great Lakes Regional Competition
    • Developement of construction seqence to minimize construction time
    • Judging based on aesthetics, construction time, weight, horizontal deflection under a 50 pound lateral load, and vertical deflection under a 2500 pound vertical load

Last year we placed 5th out of 10 teams at the Great Lakes Regional Competition and we look forward to an improvement this year.

Fabrication to begin Friday January 23rd in the art building!
