Writing assignment: Essay #1.

Take a firm stand on this quotation. Do you agree with it? Or do you disagree with it? Your response should be no more than 2 typed, double-spaced pages of careful reasoning. Make sure your reader knows where you stand and can follow your argument throughout the paper. For that matter, make sure you know where you stand. As you formulate your argument, be sure to keep counterarguments in mind. Use evidence. At the same time, be concise and very to the point.

This assignment is very straightforward. I recommend that you begin it as soon as you can. My expectations are not extraordinary. I will simply be pleased if you write the best paper you have ever written in your life.

This paper is due by class time next Tuesday, February 14.
