Since 2000, the rate of externally sponsored research projects has more than doubled. Such growth has opened the University’s doors to an influx of post-doctoral candidates, enriched challenges for graduate students, and substantially broadened research opportunities for undergraduates.

ISLA
External grant dollars awarded to the College of Arts and Letters have grown significantly in recent years. In 2004-05 alone, Arts and Letters received over $14 million in external funding, an all-time high.

In 2004-05 the College of Arts and Letters received $14 million dollars in external funding—an all-time high. Each year, over 100 undergrads receive Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) grants by the Institute for Scholarship in Liberal Arts (ISLA) to conduct independent research projects.
