Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C., a French priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross, founded the University of Notre Dame du Lac in 1842. Today, the campus's 1,250 acres are adorned with a number of beautiful statues, many evoking the lives of saints and prophets.
