Golden Dome

After the Main Building was destroyed by fire in 1879, Fr. Sorin proclaimed that he would rebuild it, bigger and better than ever. The Golden Dome, a gift from the sisters at St. Mary's College, is now one of the most recognized University landmarks in the world.
