Campus Growth and Development
Never a campus to be accused of “dreaming too small,” Notre Dame has $300 million to $400 million of campus development projects in progress or on the horizon. They include a new art museum, three or four more residence halls, engineering and law school buildings, and new athletic venues.
By developing a retail and residential area south of campus that is to be complemented by the Notre Dame Commons, green space at the University’s front door, Notre Dame also will strengthen its already solid relationship with its South Bend neighbors.
Featured Current Projects
Notre Dame Law School: Construction is under way on an 85,000-square-foot addition on the site of the former campus post office. The new classroom and office building will be connected to the existing law school with an arched walkway. When the project is completed in 2010, the renovated original building will be used as the law library.
Stinson-Remick Hall: Construction began in November 2007 on a $69.4 million building on the DeBartolo Quadrangle. The 142,000-square-foot engineering building will include three floors and a full basement.
Geddes Hall: Construction of the $14 million, 64,000-square-foot building began in spring 2008. It will house the Institute for Church Life and all of the its associated centers, including the Center for Social Concerns.
