Notre Dame's recent projects in the Grand Canyon State

The Fighting Irish football team takes the field in Glendale, Arizona, on New Year's Day.

Yet long before new Coach Marcus Freeman's team knew its bowl destination, Notre Dame faculty and students took to the research field in Arizona. Below are some selected projects that highlight the University's activities in and around Phoenix and Tucson, from searching for life on other planets to grappling with important questions about immigration and the dignity of human life.

First Light

Using a custom-built application, Notre Dame researchers use the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) in a remote part of Arizona to search for life on other planets.
